Horseback Riding
and lessons

Trail Rides:

Our trail rides are all guided and are on gentle, well-trained horses! We train all of our horses to our own special requirements.

There is a 250 lb weight limit for horseback riders and an age limit of 8 years or older for the "big trail". Our trail rides cover different areas of Kanopolis State Park. The hour trail winds through the knolls and valleys of the park and offers a pleasant gentle ride. Various wildlife (as deer , prairie dogs, and coyote) and birds (hawks, blue birds, orioles and cranes) are often seen on this ride. The two hour ride skirts through Horsethief Canyon and many areas of rim rock. This trail offers beautiful scenery unlike that found anywhere else in Kansas. Though there are rocky bluffs and water crossings, our horses have gotten even first time riders safely through to enjoy this beautiful, adventuresome trail.

All prices are based on a group of two or more riders and are subject to change without notice.

Half-day rides (4 hours) are available with reservations for $70 per rider.
Cash and travelers checks are accepted.

Pony Rides are available for the younger equestrians and are hand led in our small corral.

Pony rides:        $8 per rider.
Helmets are available for riders upon request.

Horseback Riding Lessons are available in private or semi-private lessons. Lessons include some trail riding depending on the skill of the rider.

Stage Coach and Covered Wagon: The Goverland Stage Coach is an authentic reproduction of the old time coaches and is pulled by our team of Belgian horses, Mark and Nancy . It comfortably accommodates 6 to 8 average sized adults and is great for picture shoots with its added "old time" props. The padded seats (our only concession to modern comfort) make the ride all the more enjoyable.

The Covered Wagon can comfortably seat 8 to 10 average sized adults. It is fashioned after the wagons, which brought the first settlers to this area. Get the feeling of the pioneer Spirit by riding this unique wagon.

Our Stage Coach or Covered Wagon is available for hourly rides in the park or for hire for those 'Special' occasions as weddings, reunions, graduations or anniversaries. Individual rides may be scheduled at the park. Reservations must be made to bring one of these fun and exciting wagons to your special event.

One half hour ride for a group of 4 to 6 is $8 per rider and for a group of 7 or more is $5 per rider . The one-hour ride for a group of 4 to 6 is $15 per rider and for a group of 7 or more $12 per rider . For a group of less than 4 there is a minimum charge of $32 for a half hour ride or $64 for an hour ride.
